Tackling the agri crisis: Experts discuss ways to alleviate farmer’s pain

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting experts, economists, academicians and policy makers on February 19 and 20 to discuss ways of solving several problems plaguing the agriculture sector.

The meeting will also discuss methods in which farmers’ income can be doubled by 2022. On the 20th, the PM will listen in to presentation from the sub committees and come out with a seven point agenda.

In light of the recent rains and hailstorms which battered crops in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, this meeting has taken on more importance.

A discussion on the much talked about hike in minimum support price (MSP) which was announced by the Finance Minister in his Budget speech is also expected to take place at this meeting.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Ravindra Agrawal, MD & Promoter of KisanKraft discussed about what the government should focus on in order to alleviate the farmer’s pain.
